Storing and Transferring Files


There are five (5) different online storage services either free or paid, that can be used to store or transfer files online. 

  
Mega
   
Dropbox
iCloud
Google Drive
OneDrive

 



1. Mega is a cloud storage and file hosting service offered by MEGA Limited, a company based in Auckland, New Zealand.

2. Dropbox is a file hosting service operated by the American company Dropbox, Inc., headquartered in San Francisco, California, U.S. that offers cloud storage, file synchronization, personal cloud, and client software.

3. iCloud is a cloud service developed by Apple Inc. iCloud enables users to store and sync data across devices.

4. Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service developed by Google. Google Drive allows users to store files in the cloud, synchronize files across devices, and share files.

5. Microsoft OneDrive is a file hosting service operated by Microsoft. It enables registered users to share and synchronize their files.

 

How To Transfer the Data and Files Online?

You can transfer files from computers and cellphones or vice versa easily using cloud storage services such as Mega, Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive, and OneDrive. 


When transferring files from different devices to online storage, make sure you are connected to the internet. Internet access is needed when saving and transferring files. 



After choosing a preferred online storage, navigate the app and open an account to store and transfer data and files. 


 How do you Transfer Files from Computer to Thumb Drive?


The common manual method to transfer files from computer to thumb drive is Copy and Paste.

1. Copy and Paste by Right Clicking the Files

Step 1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the location from where you want to copy the files.

Step 2. Using the left-click, select the files you want to copy. You can also use Ctrl+ Left click to select files if you don't want to select all files in a row.


Step 3. Once done, right-click and select Copy from the options. Next, go to the Flash Drive visible in Windows Explorer.


 Step 4. Double click on the Flash drive to open it, then right-click on any empty area and choose Paste. It will copy all the files to the flash drive.



2. Copy and Paste Using Keyboard Shortcuts

Step 1. Go to the folder or file location which you want to copy.

Step 2. Use Tab to highlight the first folder or file, and then use shift to select the files. Once done, press Ctrl + C to copy all of them.

Step 3: Open Windows Explorer using Win + E and then the flash drive. Navigate to the location where you want to copy the files, and then press Ctrl + V.




How do you Transfer Files from Cellphone to Laptop?

You can use your Google Account or a USB cable to move photos, music, and other files between your computer and cellphone.

Option 1: Move files with your Google Account.

Upload files to your Google Account to use them on both your computer and phone.

  1. On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
  2. At the top left, click New and then File Upload or Folder Upload.
  3. Choose the file or folder you want to upload.

Option 2: Move files with a USB cable.

  1. Unlock your phone.
  2. With a USB cable, connect your phone to your computer.
  3. On your phone, tap the "Charging this device via USB" notification.
  4. Under "Use USB for," select File Transfer.
  5. A file transfer window will open on your computer. Use it to drag files.
  6. When you're done, eject your phone from Windows.
  7. Unplug the USB cable.



Your computer must be using Mac OS X 10.5 and up.

  1. Download and install Android File Transfer on your computer.
  2. Open Android File Transfer. The next time that you connect your phone, it opens automatically.
  3. Unlock your phone.
  4. With a USB cable, connect your phone to your computer.
  5. On your phone, tap the "Charging this device via USB" notification.
  6. Under "Use USB for," select File Transfer.
  7. An Android File Transfer window will open on your computer. Use it to drag files.
  8. When you’re done, unplug the USB cable.


How do you Transfer Files from Mobile Phone to Mobile Phone?

There two (2) common ways to transfer files between mobile phone to mobile phone.
 
Bluetooth
   
1. Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology standard that is used for exchanging data between fixed and mobile devices over short distances and building personal area networks.


SHAREit
 2.SHAREit is an app to send pictures, music, and more, to other devices without using an active internet or Bluetooth connection.


1. Transfer files from mobile phone to mobile phone via Bluetooth

Open the File Manager app. This also could be called Explorer, Files, File Explorer, My Files, or something similar. On Android Marshmallow or later, open the Settings app to find the file manager.

  1. Storage app on stock Android smartphone
  2. Go to the folder that contains the files you want to transfer. Camera photos are usually found in the DCIM folder.

  3. Tap the Menu icon and choose Select.

  4. Select the files you want to send.

  5. Tap the Share icon.

  6. In the list of sharing options, tap Bluetooth.

    If the devices haven't been paired, it may take a few seconds to discover the receiving device.

  7. Tap the Bluetooth device you want to transfer the files to. A message that displays "Sending # Files to [device]" appears on the screen.

  8. A file transfer notification appears on the receiving device that shows the file name, file size, and the sending device. This window may disappear (nothing will be transferred) if no action is taken within 15 seconds. If this happens, send the files again.

  9. Select Accept on the receiving device to download the files. If the receiving device is a computer, choose a folder location. If you want to cancel the transfer, select DeclineCancel, or Reject, depending on your PC.


2. Transfer files from mobile phone to mobile phone via SHAREit

Follow the steps mentioned below to transfer the files through ShareIt.

  • Open Shareit and then click on Send option at the top.
  • Next, tap on the files that you have to send to the other mobile and then click on Next.
  • After that, tap on Open Bluetooth. When you will tap on this option, the next button at the button will turn blue. Tap on the blue Next button.
  • After that, click on the avatar of the device where you want to send the files.

Remember, the receiver must turn on the hotspot before the sender sends the files. Also, both the sender and the receiver must make sure that they have selected the right option, meaning, the receiver selects the Receive option while the sender selects the Send option.

That’s it. You will see that the files have been sent to the other device and you will receive a confirmation.
